Third Annual Ed Numbe Open 2008 was a great success
There were over 20 brother Phis golfing - or at least swinging at the ball on Eagle Knoll Golf Course near Jefferson City MO.
The weekend was a HUGE success. A great time, a lot of laughs, bullshit, abuse, beer and oh yeah - we got kicked out of a bar!
The gathering began at Booch's on 9Th Street - a regular hangout for beer, burgers and bullshit in downtown Columbia.
We were to meet beginning at 11:30.
We were asked to leave before noon. Way to go Phis - that has to be a first!
After re-grouping at Harpo's, we were off to Eagle Knoll Golf Course near Jeff City for a round of old-geezer golf.
We loaded into 6 or 7 golf carts an rumbled onto the golf course to attempt a game of best ball.
The weather was perfect for golf and catching up, shooting the shit and hefting the usual abuse upon one another.
The beer cart was always a welcome site and thankfully - well stocked!
Afterward, we headed back to Columbia to clean up, some took naps (hey - we're getting old) and eat some dinner before re-grouping at Ford's Theater/Willy's Bar (the Old Bullwinkle's). Some tried to stick it out in the very noisy inside of the bar, while others ventured to the patio where we could talk in relative peace and in relative tone - old guys can get louder with alcohol.
We closed down the bar at 1:30 and gathered on the sidewalk to form a sort of old-geezer gauntlet that students had to traverse - especially the Stephen's chicks.
The next morning, many met up at Ernie's for some much needed greasy spoon breakfast and then we parted ways and headed back down the highway to the family, work and the old grind.
We all look forward to doing it again next year and hope to bring other brothers to join in all the fun! Check back next fall for more news on the Fourth Annual Ed Numbe Open
